Lavender’s place of origin is Persia and Southern France (Provence). English Lavender is also well known and the fields are worth visiting. The flower is cut at the highest position of the sun because at this time of the day the content of essential Oil is at its maximum. For 1kg of essence approximately 150-160kg of plant is required.
Lavender Oil helps balance strong emotions as it is a calming oil. For this reason it is often used in psychological Aromatherapy to treat nervousness, sleeplessness, stress, depression, fears and sensitiveness. Lavender has the unusual characteristic that it acts exactly how it is needed: it is able to refresh when sleepy and relax when nervous.
A Lavender bath in the evening or Lavender in the Aromatherapy lamp in the bedroom helps rest; particularly good for children and babies who also tend to like the fragrance.
Lavender Oil can also be very effective for burns and may even be put directly (pure) on the wound (this happens only very rarely with essential oils). In this case repeat the application several times a day.
Insect bites (i.e. from wasps) may also be treated with this Oil.
The Lavender fragrance belongs in every cupboard to prevent moth infestations.
